Chuck Norris honors mom on 101st birthday — she raised her 3 sons as single mom after dad left. Chuck Norris is well-known for his various accomplishments in martial arts, the amount of belts he possesses, and his film career.

Maybe the labels he wears with the most pride are those of proud father, loving son, and adoring spouse!

Wilma Norris, the actor’s mother, is someone he often described for the effect she had on his life. He admired her courage because she was able to raise three children as a single mother at a time when the world was not kind to single mothers.

Last year on Mother’s Day, the actor paid tribute to his mother and wife Genna, thanking them for being a huge influence in his life.

His mother’s birthday was also on the same day and she turned 100, inspiring her son to add: “I love you mum! Happy 100th anniversary!”

He even often mentioned that his mother is still an active part of the community and a frequent prayer! He stated that he hoped for the success of his career, but she also continued to pray that he would meet the lady who would change his life and it worked.

Vilma overcame adversity to get to where she is now. She was born in a poor family. Later in life, she struggled but managed to raise her three children on her own after their father, her husband, left the family early.

However, she managed to raise only three sons. Instill confidence in them and help them become self-sufficient to understand that nothing is impossible.

And her faith in her children, and instilling such faith in them, had a tangible impact as we saw Chuck Norris begin a very successful career as a martial artist in Hollywood.

The actor has always prioritized his family. He married his wife Gena in 1998, and they had their first child in 2001.

His wife developed symptoms of arthritis ten years into their marriage. She was scheduled for an MRI, as well as other tests and treatments, but all failed. As a result, she became ill and needed round-the-clock care to return to her old health.

Chuck accepted the challenge. His entire existence now revolved around keeping her alive, he explained.

The family member prioritized his wife’s treatment and stayed by her side during her illness, putting work on hold.

Wilma Norris, the matriarch of the Norris family, was 101 years old in May of this year. Her son Chuck was the first to post about her in celebration of his mother’s life so far. “Happy birthday mom! 101 years young! WOW! There are no words to describe how much I love and appreciate you. Thank you for all you have done for us over the many years God has blessed us together.”

Chuck has always been open about his feelings for his mother, letting everyone know how important she is to him.

Wilma Norris’s life was not simple. She grew up in so much hardship that at the age of eight she became a child of the state.

She spent two years in hospital being treated for a rare condition. She grew up, met Ray, got married and had three children. Ray was a World War II vet who returned to the United States with a missing arm and a drinking problem.

Alcoholism made it difficult for him to hold down a job. He could not support the family financially. Wilma decided to move herself and her three sons to Wilson, Oklahoma.

Despite it being the Great Depression, Chuck often shared with fans that her mother’s faith never wavered and that she always believed that things would get better.

Mom has been an inspiration of resilience and faith throughout her life, the actor said about his mom. She also lost both husbands, a stepchild, two grandchildren and his younger brother Wieland in the Vietnam War. She’s had cancer several times and had about 30 different surgeries for various ailments, and she’s still alive to tell the tale.

Wilma made a rare appearance on The Mike Huckabee Show in 2012 to highlight her life and family. She attributed her effective parenting to frequent prayer with her sons and making sure they all attended church regularly.

Wilma Norris is a true inspiration. The Norris family matriarch is still going strong at 101 years old.
